MOUNT PLEASANT – A man died after being shot outside a Mount Pleasant barber shop on Saturday afternoon, law enforcement confirmed.
The alleged shooter provided police, Mount Pleasant Police Department with eyewitness testimony and video of the scene.
“There is no active threat to the community, this incident was a two-person affair,” the Mount Pleasant Police Department said in a press release late Saturday afternoon.
Police responded to Angel Beauty Salon, 2221 Durand Avenue, just after 2:34 p.m. Saturday to a report of a shooting.
On his arrival, a man was taken into custody at gunpoint; he didn’t resist and let himself be handcuffed while kneeling on the street near the living room, according to the Facebook Live video.
At the same time, first responders performed CPR on a person on the sidewalk of the parking lot who had been shot.
“Officers at the scene immediately attempted rescue measures, which were continued by paramedics from the South Shore Fire Department, but the victim succumbed to his injuries. The suspect who remained there was immediately taken into custody, ”according to the MPPD press release.
