South Bay theft: Nearly $9,000 worth of Ulta Beauty and other products stolen

REDONDO BEACH, Calif. — A man and woman are suspected of stealing approximately $6,700 in stolen beauty products from Ulta Beauty at the South Bay Galleria in Redondo Beach, and approximately $1,800 from a Torrance retailer during the weekend, authorities said.

Officers responded to the reported theft at Ulta Beauty in the 1500 block of Hawthorne Boulevard around 2:07 p.m. Sunday, Redondo Beach Lt. Fabian Saucedo said.

A man and woman allegedly walked inside the business and then grabbed a large amount of goods, placing them in trash bags they had brought with them, Saucedo said. The suspects then fled in a vehicle waiting outside the store.

Redondo Beach police officers followed the vehicle through the Wilshire Boulevard and Alvarado Street area of ​​Los Angeles and arrested the suspects with the assistance of Los Angeles police officers, Saucedo said.

Officers found approximately $6,700 worth of Ulta Beauty products in trash bags, he said. The suspects were also in possession of $1,800 worth of merchandise stolen earlier in the day from a Torrance business.

Deon Donnell Paige, 18, and Jamonnie Leesawn Murphy, 18, both of Los Angeles, were charged with theft and have since bonded.

The case is being considered for felony charges with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Saucedo said.

“These subjects are suspected of being responsible for similar prior thefts from retail businesses in
Redondo Beach,” Saucedo said.
