The latest round of Reader’s Choice awards, presented by MLive Media Group and Michigan’s Best, is ready for people to nominate and vote for their favorite spots.
Last year, more than 29,000 votes were cast for the winners and runners-up of the first Reader’s Choice competition. This year, the poll focuses on outlets across Michigan. Readers can name companies they like and vote for them in several different categories. Maybe you have a favorite wine shop where the staff always make picking your favorite wines a pleasure. Or maybe you have a grocery store you’re loyal to or an outdoor adventure store where you know you can find your favorite gear.
It’s time to name all those personal favorites and more starting today. You can find the ballot here.
Voting will close at noon on May 27. Winners will be featured in a special section in July.
“Reader’s Choice emerged in 2021 as the answer to a long history of food searches within Michigan’s Best,” said Anne Drummond, director of creative advertising sales for MLive Media Group. “The program, intended to expand from food, destination or restaurant nominations alone, has enabled more industries and businesses to participate. It was immediately clear that our readers were excited about the project, dropping nearly 10,000 nominations on the ballots.
“We are launching an outlet-exclusive ballot across Michigan. We can’t wait to hear from our readers about all the places they love to shop! Retail nominations will be split into nine categories, ranging from groceries, wine and spirits to health, personal care and beauty.
“Readers can vote for a retailer they see on the ballot or write in one of their own. Michigan’s top team will regularly add write-ins throughout the voting process, and voters can vote on the ballot up to once a day for the duration of the program.
The ballot is divided into the following retail categories:
- Clothes and accessories
- Athletic and outdoors
- Home & Office, Electronics (Furniture Stores, Office Supplies, Home/Patio, Home Decor, DIY, Appliances)
- Books, media and entertainment (books, music, video, video and board games)
- Specialty stores (uniquely crafted items, hobbies, gifts)
- Grocery, Wines and Spirits
- Health, personal care and beauty
Any retail store or store can be nominated by entrants, as long as they fit the category. Readers can nominate and vote up to once a day from May 16 until noon on May 27.
