More stars added to ABC’s upcoming ‘Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration’ special


Thursday, December 15, 2022 will take place a very special live of Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration. This will make her play the role of Belle. At the D23 Expo last weekend, it was announced that there were more stars heading into production with Jon M. Chu producing the special and Hamish Hamilton directing it.

Tony®– Emmy®– and GRAMMY®-nominated artist Josh Groban will take on the role of the Beast. He has already recorded a song for the 2017 live-action The beauty and the Beast. Tony- and GRAMMY-nominated Broadway star Joshua Henry will play the role of Gaston. EGOT winner and legend Rita Moreno will narrate the tale of the night.

The special will be presented by The Wonderful World of Disney. The two-hour reimagining of this tale as old as time will be recorded in front of a live audience at Disney Studios and will air Thursday, December 15 at 8:00 a.m. EST on ABC, then arrive on Disney+ the following day. This presentation of The beauty and the Beast will be a mix of live animation and narration.

2022 marks 30 years since The beauty and the Beast was the very first animated film to be nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars. The film went on to win the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. The theme sounds The beauty and the Beast also won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 1992.

Joshua Henry Bio

Joshua Henry is a GRAMMY nominated performer and recording artist best known for his Tony nominated lead roles in ‘Carousel’, ‘The Scottsboro Boys’ and ‘Violet“, as well as for his spectacular performance as Aaron Burr in the cultural phenomenon “Hamilton” (Chicago/San Francisco/Los Angeles). A BMG recording artist, Henry’s debut album “Grow” is available worldwide on all streaming platforms. On screen, he played the role of Roger Bart in the Oscar-nominated film “Tick, Tick, Boom”, directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
