I think it’s safe to say that most Bridgerton fans have now finished Season 2, and if you’re like me, you’ve admired the show’s gorgeous fresh makeup looks throughout the court and intrigues.
Bridgerton makeup, inspired by Regency era trends, is rather subtle but still delicately defines key features like the eyes, cheeks and lips. When the show’s makeup artist Lynda J Pearce shared the products used to achieve Daphne’s rosy, rosy look in a series of Instagram posts, it wasn’t a huge surprise that many of the products were pricey.
Luckily, you can recreate Bridgerton’s clean, classic makeup look with drugstore makeup swaps that yield similar results! Check out the routine below.
To enhance the gorgeous glow that defines the Bridgerton makeup look, Pearce preps using the Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Face Primer ($40). It not only contains vitamin C for long-lasting skin brightening effects, but is also infused with pigments that add shine under makeup. Almost identical effects can be found with the Milani Bright Side Illuminating Primer ($10.99). Without having tried the Ole Henriksen primer, I would go so far as to say that these are absolutely dupes based on the claims and highlights of the formula!
On set, Pearce uses the Chanel Vitalumier Aqua Foundation ($50), which is a sheer, lightweight product that provides light to medium coverage. You can get similar results with the L’Oreal Skin Paradise Water-Infused Tinted Moisturizer ($16.99), a water-based tinted moisturizer with buildable coverage, a dewy, natural-looking finish, and a moisture boost. You can see before and after my use of this product on my acne and hyperpigmentation in my Skin Paradise Tinted Moisturizer review.
Adding to the glow, the YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Concealer ($38) is applied under the eyes. This hydrating concealer adds enough coverage to conceal dark circles while remaining weightless… which is something you can also achieve with the $6 Elf Flawless Brightening Concealer. Both use hyaluronic acid to hydrate the skin while you wear it, but the drugstore swap is vegan and cruelty-free!
With the rest of the face remaining fairly subtle, the blush is where Bridgerton’s makeup makes a statement. On Daphne, you will see that the Stila Convertible Color ($25) in Lilium adds a flushed, bouncy look to the cheeks in a nude pink. the Flower Beauty Lip & Cheek Gel ($9.99) gives the same wash of color and a shiny finish for a youthful appearance. The shadow Strawberry Crush is a close match when mixed, perhaps slightly warmer.
This secret is one that even Lady Whistledown wouldn’t have figured out: Daphne is wearing drugstore lipstick, even though it’s not a lip product at all! the Pixi Clear Cheek Gel ($14) is a translucent gel blush, but Pearce dabs and blends the Natural blend gently onto lips for a more naturally pigmented look.
The Bridgerton makeup style is classic and perfect for everyday wear. As barely made up is trendy in 2022, it is both timeless and contemporary!
