Following some do’s and don’ts for your skin care can help you look glowing. Health Shots contacted Dr. Kashish Kalra, Head of Department of Dermatology, Max Smart Superspecialty Hospital, New Delhi to find out some natural ways to get glowing skin.
8 Instant Glow Tips For The Festive Glow This Diwali
1. Don’t forget the basics
Follow the basic facial care regimen of cleansing, moisturizing and sun protection. Those with oily skin should use an exfoliating face wash, which contains salicylic or glycolic acid, followed by a gel or water-based moisturizer sealing with gel-based sunscreen. Those with dry skin should use a milder face wash, cream-based moisturizer, and sunscreen, suggests Dr. Kalra.
2. Avoid Experiments
You don’t want a last minute blowout on your skin, do you? So don’t try new products, facials, or masks that you’ve never tried before. Your skin can’t afford
unpredictable allergic reactions that may lead to skin rashes or sensitivity.
3. Stay hydrated
This is one of the most basic beauty tips to follow. Hydrate well. Maintain a balanced diet and drink enough water.
4. Layer your products correctly
Wear your sunscreen first, then your makeup as it protects the skin from the harmful effects of makeup. Otherwise, putting makeup on for long hours can clog your pores and generate more debris, leading to breakouts and sensitivity.
5. Don’t sleep with your makeup on
Remove make-up well with micellar water followed by a good exfoliating cleanser and then a moisturizer.
6. Add a moisturizing mask
Choose a consistently hydrating mask, especially with hyaluronic acid or ceramides in your nighttime regimen to soothe and rejuvenate your skin. Try some DIY mask ideas too!
7. Night routine
Nourish your skin with a night serum regimen containing vitamin C or retinol. But start with less concentration initially preferably prescribed by your dermatologist.
Don’t forget to take care of your lips. Prolonged exposure to the outdoors while running errands or outings can lead to chapped, dry skin, so keep a lip balm handy in your purse and continue to exfoliate your lips occasionally.
