I’ve spent countless hours browsing the aisles of the beauty section of my local CVS. Listen, I grew up with Maybelline, L’Oréal, Covergirl and even Rimmel London – and loved every second of it. Swapping lip gloss shades on my wrist while searching for the next best contour stick. Even sometimes I left it to chance and chose to go with a product simply because of its pretty packaging aesthetic. Guilty.

But over the years, in light of social media and of course, personal trial and error, I found myself going back to my roots and indulging in the magic of drugstore beauty. We all know that if you’re looking for an affordable version of your favorite premium product, chances are the internet has already done its research for you.

As for me, I can only attest to drugstore beauty finds now living rent-free in my makeup bag after years of exploring the drugstore scene, both virtually and IRL. Oh, and I also managed to get through my high school phase with a two-tone foundation that was too light. I would say remarkable.

Below, indulge in the world of six drugstore makeup products that will not only save you hard-earned cash, but also give you a flawless finish.

Coty Airspun Translucent Loose Face Powder

It’s lightweight, comes in six shades, and smells like cotton laundry fresh out of the dryer. The brand calls this loose face powder “Beauty’s best-kept secret since 1935”. It comes with a puff applicator (real vintage, I would say) and can be used to set the face and bake while also contouring.

Maybelline Lifter Lip Gloss with Hyaluronic Acid in Topaz

Maybelline Lifter Lip Gloss with Hyaluronic Acid

I have to give it to the internet on this one. Shade Topaz is the exact replica of my favorite Fenty Lip Gloss. Given its hyaluronic component, the Maybelline Lifter Gloss plumps lips without the tingling and redness that not everyone (including myself) is a fan of.

Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation Stick

From the start of my contouring days, I turned to a stick foundation for fluid and precise application. My favorite pharmacy outline has to go to the Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation Stick. It has a creamy formula that comes in 21 shades for different skin tones.
